Fundraiser for Teba!

2012-03-20 19-53-49_91

Click on the picture to learn more about TEBA!

Update: Teba is doing very well and recovering quickly. She has gained an amazing 35 lbs, bringing her to 136 lbs. She is playful and loving; just a true dane. She still isn't sure how to behave around other dogs, but is getting used to them more each day. She loves to lean and give big sloppy kisses. I have found her favorite toy to be a rope with a ball on the end. She looks amazing and I will post new pictures very soon.

GDRC needs your stuff!

The Great Dane Rescue Resale Shop is Open!

The Great Dane Rescue Resale Shop (Calvin's Corner) is located at 111-A South Old Statesville Road in Huntersville and is now open for business.  The shop will be closed on Sunday and Monday.  Regular operating hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm.  All proceeds will go directly to the Great Dane Rescue for operating expenses, vet bills and medications, food, etc.

But, we need your help to make it successful.  We need DONATIONS of toys, furniture, accessories, clothes, appliances, books, anything that we can price reasonably to sell.  So, clean out your garage, do your Spring house cleaning early this year, go through your clothes, get the kids involved by going through their toys; especially bicycles and other riding toys.  We will have a truck available for large items, like furniture and appliances, and for neighborhood pick up days.  The neighborhood pick up days will be coordinated with the neighborhood association and flyers will be distributed to everyone in the area.  In addition, we will have trucks at various business locations for donation drop offs.  Also, we will be distributing flyers in the neighborhoods to pick up items that did not sell at yard and garage sales.  We will also have specialty items at the store for sale for you and your pets.

If you would like to volunteer some of your time, we always need help with repairs, or picking up donations with the truck.  The resale shop will be staffed with volunteers every day except Sunday and Monday and any hours that you are available to help will be appreciated.  We have been very fortunate to have had support from this community for many years and we could not have done it without you so we are asking you to please help us make this a success.  We will take anything that you want to donate, just give us a call on our hot line 704-697-9706 if you need any further information.

Lucky Dogs Looking for You!

Great Dane Rescue of the Carolinas wants to find homes for 25 of our dogs that have been chosen because they have been at our rescue for over two years.  We have sponsors for each of these dogs to cover half of the adoption fee.  This is allowing us to have this event called, “Overlooked but not Forgotten”.  For this event only, the adoption fee will be reduced from $250.00 to $125.00 on these lucky dogs.  This adoption fee will include all vaccinations, spay or neuter, microchipping and deworming.

All potential adopters will go through our normal adoption process with a vet check and home visit.  We look forward to adopting all 25 of these deserving dogs to a loving home in the month of February.  Please join us and visit our “Overlooked but not Forgottenlucky dogs and adopt a new family member into a forever home.  The "Overlooked but not Forgotten" special adoption event will continue until we find homes for all of these special dogs.  Our "Overlooked but not Forgotten" dogs are specially marked in their profiles.

Great Dane Rescue of the Carolinas, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to placing abandoned Great Danes from North and South Carolina in safe and loving homes.

Founded in 1984, Great Dane Rescue of the Carolinas, Inc. is devoted to saving beautiful gentle giants and educating the public on the growing problem with abandonment, abuse, and surrender.  We are a no-kill shelter and support spay neuter programs.

Great Dane Rescue of the Carolina's is funded 100% by donations.  With an ever growing number of dogs in need, we need continued support and assistance for medical care and housing during the adoption process.

We recommend that you check the website after 11am on every open house day to make sure we are open, all open houses are weather permitting!

Thanks in advance and we look forward to seeing you!
